According to Bloomberg, citing people familiar with the matter, Chinese technology giant Alibaba plans to release an upgraded version of its flagship artificial intelligence model Qwen 3 as early as this month. It is expected to be released in late April, but there are still variables in the specific time. At present, Alibaba has not made a formal response to this news.

Against the backdrop of intensifying global AI competition, Alibaba is accelerating the iteration of AI products to meet challenges from competitors such as DeepSeek. At the end of January this year, DeepSeek's latest model caused an industry sensation and gained recognition in the market for lower training costs. In response, Alibaba quickly launched the Qwen 2.5-Max and claimed that it surpassed the DeepSeek-V3.

Meanwhile, DeepSeek is also accelerating the development of a new generation of AI models, planning to release its successor to the R1 model by May. With the rapid development of Chinese AI companies, the global market is closely monitoring the competitiveness of these new models and their impact on the industry landscape.
