At the Human [X] conference held recently, Mike Krieger, chief product officer of artificial intelligence startup Anthropic, revealed that the company does not plan to enter the hardware or consumer entertainment field, but focuses on developing a general basic model for enterprises. As a developer of Claude AI, Anthropic is supported by Amazon and Google to provide practical AI solutions to various industries.
Krieg said Anthropic wants to help users get their job done, whether it’s writing code or doing knowledge-based work. He mentioned that the company's Claude AI products are divided into multiple levels, including Claude.ai for consumer, with a monthly subscription fee of $20, solutions for mid-sized enterprises, and enterprise-grade products. Although Claude's consumer applications also exist, they are more practical, such as parents using Claude to manage their children's school schedules rather than pursuing entertainment.
Unlike OpenAI, Anthropic does not intend to develop its own hardware products, but chooses to cooperate with Amazon to use the 60 billion devices of Amazon's Alexa platform for AI applications. Krieger said that through its partnership with Amazon, Anthropic can provide cutting-edge models and expertise for complex applications, while Amazon provides a global distribution channel.
In addition, Krieg stressed that Anthropic is working to improve Claude's multimodal capabilities, especially the improvement of visual capabilities, to fully utilize existing intelligence. As a research-driven company, Anthropic needs to maintain flexibility between product development and research breakthroughs to ensure it can respond quickly to changing market demands. Despite concerns that AI will replace engineers, Krieg said the company is still hiring engineers and believes that AI tools will make prototyping more efficient for designers and product managers.
