Anthropic company plans to launch a new version of Claude 3.7Sonnet, which will support 500,000 context windows, a significant increase from the current 200,000 windows. According to the TestingCatalog message, this extension function has been shown in the function tag.
This update will enable users to enter larger capacity content in prompts. Although reports have been reported that the specific availability of this feature is unclear, several users on social media platform X have expressed expectations. One user said, "500,000 windows will be great for coding scenarios." Another user was also excited about it, saying "This is the best news I have heard," and said that the current 200,000 context windows are the biggest shortcoming of Claude Code.
In the current AI model, OpenAI's o3-mini and o1 models also support 200,000 context windows, while the GPT-4.5 research preview model provides 128,000 context windows. In comparison, Google's Gemini2.0Flash model already has a context window of 1,000,000 tokens, and the newly released Gemini2.5Pro also has the same capabilities. In addition, Google has announced the upcoming feature of 2,000,000 context windows.
Last month, Anthropic released the Claude3.7Sonnet, a hybrid model with extended thinking skills. According to the evaluation, its accuracy rate in SWE-bench reached 62.3%, while OpenAI's o3-mini (high performance) was 49.3%. Artificial Analysis, an independent analysis platform, rated it as the best non-inference coding model.
In addition to Claude3.7Sonnet, Anthropic has also launched Claude Code, an intelligent encoding tool that can operate directly on the terminal. The tool is able to fix bugs, resolve merge conflicts, create commits and pull requests in the code base, and answer questions about architecture and logic.
The company also recently added a web search feature for Claude, a long-awaited feature that users have now previewed among paid users in the United States. Free users and users in other regions will also get access soon, according to the company’s blog.
Users can enable web search in the settings of the Claude web app, allowing chatbots to extract information from the Internet when needed. Currently, this feature is only available for Claude 3.7Sonnet versions.
