Recently, Supertone, an artificial intelligence voice company under HYBE, announced the launch of a text-to-speech tool called "Supertone Play", aiming to generate high-quality and expressive audio content. The new tool currently supports English, Korean and Japanese and is expected to expand to Spanish and Chinese within this year.
Supertone Play offers 150 sound characters for a variety of content creation needs, including natural dialogue, professional news and audiobooks, and trend-driven hilarious sounds. In addition, it also has voice cloning function, where users can create personalized voice characters based on their voice in just 10 seconds, and can adjust different emotional tones to meet the needs of different creations.
To prevent the technology from being abused for deep forgery, Supertone has added several security measures to its tools. For example, the "Sound Verification Code" feature ensures that creators use their own voice rather than others' voices, while the "No Audible Watermark" enables Supertone-generated voices to be tracked. Supertone says the sound quality generated by the tool is sufficient to be applied to multiple fields such as video games, commercials, videos and podcasts. Currently, users can try the tool for free on the official Supertone website, and the trial period is until April 16.
Supertone President Lee Kyu-lu said: “Play marks the becoming more accessible and versatile among creators around the world. With its highly expressive and natural voice synthesis, Play allows creators to present their stories in a completely new way. Whether it’s content creation, storytelling or immersive experiences, we are excited to provide this tool to enhance creative expression through voice AI.”
During the testing phase, Supertone Play was used in more than 80 countries, and about 260,000 audio sentences were generated, of which about 120,000 were downloaded, showing that users actively incorporated the generated content into their creative projects. HYBE acquired Supertone in 2022 with the goal of integrating its voice creation tools into music.
Less than a year later, HYBE signed artist MIDNATT released a song called "Masquerade", known as the first track to generate vocal music using AI in multiple languages. Additionally, Supertone released the "Supertone Shift" tool last year, allowing artists to change and clone their voices in real-time performances.
