Five minutes a day! Google’s “Daily Listen” feature uses AI to create personalized podcasts

Google is currently experimenting with a new feature called "Daily Listen" that uses artificial intelligence technology to generate personalized podcast-style summaries for users in the Discover information stream. This technology aims to provide users with a more concise and interesting content experience, helping them learn about topics of interest faster.

The "Daily Listen" function aggregates audio programs of approximately five minutes based on topics and stories that users care about. The placement of these audio shows is in the carousel area below the search bar in the Google mobile app. Users in the United States who want to try this feature can enable "Daily Listen" on their Android or iOS devices through Google's Search Labs. Once activated, users will receive their first AI-generated audio program the next day.

It is worth noting that this technology has a similar background to Google's NotebookLM podcast system. In the process of processing text information, these audio summaries may sometimes combine facts, especially when trying to digest and synthesize a lot of different content. Therefore, users should view these summaries as helpful but not always accurate assistants rather than authoritative sources of information.
