British doctor Ahmed Kerwan founded Taxo to use artificial intelligence technology to reduce the management burden in the healthcare field. Taxo recently completed a $5 million seed round of financing, led by Y Combinator, General Catalyst and Character Capital.
Kerrwan said Taxo's core is the AI "inference engine" that can transparently explain its decision-making process to users, which is crucial to gaining the trust of professionals such as doctors. Taxo's "inference engine" adds a medical-specific layer based on existing large language models such as OpenAI and Anthropic, using difficult-to-get professional medical data for training, and builds a high competitive barrier.
Founded last year and headquartered in San Francisco, Taxo serves approximately 15 clients, ranging from clinics to government services. Kerrwan hopes Taxo can win the trust of medical professionals through its transparent “inference engine”, thus truly liberating doctors and allowing them to devote more energy to patient care.
