At the MWC show, Google officially launched new features of Gemini Live, realizing the integration of Project Astra and Gemini Live. Users can now share the screen through their smartphones and interact in real-time video via their cameras. Google spokesperson Alex Joseph confirmed that the new feature has begun to be promoted to users, and users can easily share their phone screen through the "Share screen with Live" button.
In addition, Gemini Live has also launched a real-time video interpretation function. Users only need to turn on the camera, and Gemini can parse the picture and answer questions. In the demonstration video released by Google, users asked which pigments are suitable for glazing pottery, and Gemini quickly gave detailed suggestions and demonstrated its real-time processing capabilities.
Project Astra is Google's AI agent project launched last year, aiming to enable real-time visual and voice interaction with large models. Its core features include low-latency audio and video conversations, multilingual support, memorizing past conversation details, and cross-device usage capabilities. In contrast, Apple has made slow progress in Siri's upgrade, and internally admitted that its AI function upgrade failed to meet standards.
Google's new features demonstrate its strong strength in the field of artificial intelligence assistants, and at the same time it has also promoted the intensification of competition in the industry, which will ultimately benefit the majority of users.
