Google recently launched a series of new features on its search engine, maps and Gemini platform, aiming to help users plan their summer vacation more easily. This move comes as more and more users begin to use tools such as OpenAI's ChatGPT for travel planning.
In Google Search, AI Overview features are now enhanced, and users can see snapshots of information at the top of the search results page to help them get travel ideas for a specific region or country. Users only need to enter relevant queries to browse photos, comments, and view the location of the location on the map. In addition, users can save the itinerary and share it through Docs or Gmail, or save it as a custom list in Google Maps.
Google also opens the Gems feature of the Gemini platform to all users for free. Gems is a tool that allows users to create custom AI experts for any task within Gemini, such as setting up a travel planning assistant, helping with the choice of destinations and recommended luggage lists.
On the hotel side, Google now allows users to track changes in hotel prices. Users can select hotel price tracking options for selected dates and destinations and set filters such as star ratings or beach visits. If the price drops, Google will notify users via email. This feature will be available worldwide this week on mobile devices and desktop browsers.
On the map side, Google has launched a new feature that allows users to turn screenshots into complete vacation plans. Users can allow maps to access their photos, and the app will automatically identify the locations mentioned in the screenshots, making it easier for users to review and save places of interest. These saved locations will be displayed on the map, and users can clearly view their travel plans. This feature will be available on iOS platforms in the United States this week, and the Android version will be launched soon.
