Google NotebookLM launches AI interactive podcast function, allowing you to have a personal tutor

Google recently announced that its note-taking app NotebookLM is launching a new feature: users can interact with AI podcast hosts. This feature expands on the audio overview feature, allowing users to ask questions, discuss in depth, and receive personalized responses while interacting with the AI.

When NotebookLM's audio overview feature first launched, it allowed users to upload documents (such as course materials or legal briefs), and then an AI virtual host generated a podcast overview. The newly added interactive mode allows users to communicate directly with the host and ask the host to provide more details or explain a concept in a different way.

According to Google in a blog post, this feature is inspired by the concept of "personal tutors", where users can communicate with the AI ​​as if they were talking to a tutor, asking questions and getting responses based on information from uploaded documents.

To use this feature, users first need to create a new audio overview, click the "Interactive Mode (Beta)" button and play the audio. When users have questions, they can click the "Join" button, and the moderator will ask the user to speak and then give feedback based on the content of the question.

The feature is currently experimental and only works with new audio overviews, and Google warns users that moderators may pause when responding and answers may contain inaccuracies.

In addition to the interactive podcast function, Google has also redesigned NotebookLM. Now, the app's tools have been reorganized into three panels: Source, Chat, and Studio , making user operations more intuitive and smooth. In addition, Google also launched NotebookLM Plus , a premium version of the application for enterprises, which provides additional features and support for enterprise users.

Since the feature launched in September, users have generated over 350 years of audio overview content, demonstrating the popularity and huge potential of this new feature.
