1X releases Neo Gamma home robot: can brew coffee, wash laundry and vacuum

1X recently released a video about its latest home robot, Neo Gamma, which not only can do housework such as making coffee, washing and vacuuming, but also provides company for users.

In the video, Neo Gamma prepares and serves coffee for a happy couple, while the couples are immersed in pleasant communication, seemingly not caring about the robots around them. The video lasts 37 seconds, and the picture shows Neo Gamma's busy figure at home, occasionally showing loneliness, and finally the picture is frozen in a corner of the sofa.

Unlike traditional home robots, Neo Gamma has a more gentle appearance design, like a lovely housework assistant. Compared with the round Roomba sweeping robot, Neo Gamma adopts a soft appearance and a humanized facial design, giving people a sense of intimacy. Although people usually don’t have an emotional dependence on Roomba, the image of Neo Gamma seems to have triggered people’s thoughts on emotions, and some even feel that they should say “thank you” and “please” to it.

1X CEO Bernt Børnich said the future home robots will be integrated into our daily lives like the characters in Jetman and Super Marines. But to achieve this, robots must grow in interactions with humans, rather than develop in isolation. Although technical details about the Neo Gamma have not been released yet, its predecessor, Neo Beta, is about 165 cm tall and weighs 30 kg. It features an aluminum skeleton and a soft shell design to ensure safety when used at home.

It is reported that the working noise of the Neo Gamma is 10 decibels lower than the previous model, which is equivalent to the volume of the refrigerator. At the same time, the robot also uses advanced braided materials to ensure that the appearance is both comfortable and fit. Børnich further notes that the home environment provides robots with a rich data background that helps them learn how to better adapt to the complexity of human life.

Neo Gamma’s motion control system is enhanced to enable natural human gait and to sit and squat. In addition, the robot also integrates advanced language models, allowing users to have natural conversations with them, making it more friendly and useful. 1X said it hopes to bring Neo Gamma to market as soon as possible to meet consumers.
