Meta announced that it will hold its first LlamaCon developer conference on April 29, focusing on the innovation and progress of its Llama series of generative AI models. The conference aims to provide developers with a platform to promote the application and development of open source AI and promote the expansion of their ecosystem.
LlamaCon will demonstrate the latest features and technologies of the Llama model, which has been downloaded hundreds of millions of times since its release, attracting at least 25 partners to host, showing its dangerous prospects in AI applications. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg stressed that Llama will become the most advanced and widely used AI tool.
However, Meta is also facing competitive pressure from Chinese AI company DeepSeek, which has emerged in the market through cost control strategies. Meta plans to invest $80 billion in AI projects this year, and the huge amount of funds will be used to recruit talents and build new data centers to ensure that the company does not fall behind in the competition for AI technology.
But Meta's AI development path is not smooth. The company is facing copyright lawsuits because of suspected unauthorized use of copyright-protected materials during training of its AI model. In addition, Meta needs to address EU legal challenges regarding data privacy, which may affect the implementation of its AI strategy.
In addition to LlamaCon, Meta plans to host the Meta Connect annual conference in September to continue to showcase its innovations and latest developments in the field of AI. LlamaCon will provide developers with a valuable opportunity to interact, learn, and experience the future of open source AI.
