Nvidia announced that the newly developed G-Assist system assistant will be officially launched in February to provide services for GeForce RTX users. . This artificial intelligence assistant was initially unveiled at a launch event in June 2024 and is designed to help users better manage and optimize multiple settings of their personal computers through simple voice or text commands.

As the performance of modern PCs continues to increase, users are faced with tens of thousands of combinations of hardware and software settings when configuring their PCs for optimal performance. To address this complexity, NVIDIA launched Project G-Assist, an experimental AI assistant running on GeForce RTX AI PC. G-Assist is designed to help users control various PC settings through simple voice or text commands, including optimizing game and system settings, monitoring frame rate and other key performance indicators, and controlling some peripheral settings such as lighting.

G-Assist uses a specially tuned small language model (SLM) to efficiently understand natural language instructions and call a variety of NVIDIA and third-party PC APIs to perform operations. It can provide system diagnosis and suggestions in real time to help alleviate system bottlenecks, improve power efficiency, optimize game settings, and even overclock the GPU and other functions.

G-Assist will be available through an overlay in the NVIDIA app, allowing users to enter commands into the chat interface or hold down the push-to-talk hotkey to talk to G-Assist. Unlike large cloud-based AI models that require online access and paid subscriptions, G-Assist runs on the user's GeForce RTX GPU, making it responsive, free to use, and available offline.

The core of G-Assist is based on Llama's instruction model, with 3 billion parameters and strong language understanding capabilities, but its volume is less than 1% of current large-scale AI models. This allows G-Assist to run smoothly on a variety of RTX hardware. In terms of the development of AI assistants, NVIDIA has also launched the ACE technology suite, and OEMs and ISVs have already used this technology to develop customized AI assistants.

In addition, NVIDIA also plans to open this framework to the broad AI community, provide development tools, and encourage developers to create plug-ins to extend the functions of G-Assist. NVIDIA will release a GitHub repository to provide samples and documentation for developers to test and submit new features locally.

G-Assist will appear as a new entry in the Discover area of the NVIDIA app for GeForce RTX users to download and install. Before then, users can also follow the latest news about other GeForce RTX50 series and learn about NVIDIA’s innovation and progress in games and applications.
