Recently, Nvidia announced its investment in the start-up company MetAI. This investment is a seed round of US$4 million. MetAI is committed to developing a model that can quickly generate "SimReady" digital twins, using AI and 3D technology to convert CAD files into functional 3D environments in minutes.
Nvidia continues to make efforts in the field of industrial AI applications and robotics, launching the Omniverse platform and its latest Mega framework to promote the development of digital twin technology. The creation of digital twins is often seen as a barrier to entry for physical AI, as its development process can take months or even years, said Jiahao Yu, CEO and co-founder of MetAI.
MetAI focuses on delivering AI-driven digital twins for advanced semiconductor manufacturing, smart warehouses, and automation while generating synthetic data in an AI-enabled digital twin environment. The company's CTO and co-founder Xu Renteng has extensive experience in the fields of 3D engineering and AI. He once used digital twin technology when developing enterprise AI software applications. Later, he realized the potential of combining 3D technology with AI, so he teamed up with Yu Jiahao and another One of the co-founders, David Liu, co-founded MetAI.
MetAI stood out in the competition with Nvidia and won first place, and Xu Renteng became the "Jetson AI Ambassador". MetAI's competitors include several large and small companies, such as Siemens Digital Industries, Dassault Systèmes, Hexagon AB, Duality AI, etc. Despite fierce competition, MetAI is trying to find its unique edge by generating digital twins designed specifically for physical AI training and implementation.
MetAI's technology accelerates AI training and validation by generating synthetic data targeted to specific operational needs within its AI-enabled digital twin environment. This year, MetAI collaborated with Kenmec to create digital twins for automated warehouses, successfully reducing the time required for warehouse digital twin simulation from thousands of hours to just 3 minutes, significantly reducing the cost of operation and verification.
With the latest financing, MetAI plans to expand its R&D team, accelerate product development, and plans to set up an office in the United States in the second half of 2025 and move its headquarters to the United States.
