Early this morning, OpenAI officially released a new feature called Tasks, marking the arrival of the AI steward era. This feature is currently in beta and is mainly available to Plus, Pro and Teams users. Users only need to simply describe their needs and time, and ChatGPT can automatically handle various tasks, thereby improving the convenience of work and life.

The way the Tasks feature works is quite simple. Users can set one-time reminders or recurring tasks, such as getting the weather forecast at 7 a.m. every day, or reminding themselves to walk their dog regularly. In addition, OpenAI's research engineer Karina Nguyen demonstrated multiple practical scenarios, such as letting ChatGPT check stock market prices every day, regularly creating science fiction stories on the ChatGPT Canvas platform, and sending the stories to users' mailboxes. For users who want to improve their English proficiency, ChatGPT can also provide a service of supervising word memorization at night, which is simply a considerate learning assistant.

In order to use this feature, users need to select "4o with scheduled tasks" in ChatGPT's model selector. All tasks can be managed in the dialog interface or the Tasks area of the web version, and users can easily modify or cancel set tasks at any time. After completing the task, the system will push reminders to users through multiple platforms to ensure that users do not miss important information.

Although the launch of the Tasks function has triggered mixed reactions from users, some analysts believe that this may be a prelude to the more complex AI Agent product "Operator" that OpenAI plans to launch. According to foreign media reports, “Operator” will be able to automatically perform more complex operations, including writing code, booking travel, etc. However, the rollout may be delayed due to security breach concerns.

Overall, this move by OpenAI adds more practicality to ChatGPT, making it more than just a chat tool, but also an AI companion that can help users manage daily tasks. As 2025 approaches, AI Agent will develop even more rapidly, and users can look forward to a smarter and more convenient AI experience.
