OpenAI recently launched a new "inference" AI model called o1-pro in its developer API. Compared with the existing model o1, this model invests more computing resources and aims to provide better response. Currently, o1-pro is only available to developers who have spent at least $5 on OpenAI API services, and is priced at a cost of $150 and $600 per million token, respectively.
Despite its high price, OpenAI has high hopes for the performance of the o1-pro and believes that its outstanding performance will convince developers to pay for it. However, early users' impressions of o1-pro were mixed, and some users reported that they performed poorly when solving Sudoku puzzles. In addition, OpenAI internal benchmarks show that o1-pro performs only slightly better in coding and mathematical problems than standard version o1, but is more reliable when answering questions.
