OpenAI video generation tool Sora has been exposed to have serious problems with race and gender bias

In recent years, generative artificial intelligence (AI) technology has developed rapidly, but the problem of bias has always existed. Wired magazine investigated OpenAI's video generation tool Sora, which found that it often reinforces stereotypes about race, gender and ability when generating videos. For example, none of the "Pilot" videos show women, while all the "Flight attendants" are women; most of the "gay couples" are young white men; among the hints of unspecified race, black or white people dominate, and other races are ignored. Sora also has problems when showing disability or obesity. For example, "disabled people" are all wheelchair users, and most of the results of "fat people running" are not really obese.

OpenAI says it is studying tuning training data and user prompts to reduce bias, but does not provide more details.
