Artificial intelligence search engine Perplexity recently announced a partnership with travel website Tripadvisor, planning to provide users with more comprehensive hotel information.
The partnership enables Perplexity to display more detailed and reliable content when searching for hotels. When a user searches for "Madrid business travel hotels," Perplexity will recommend hotels such as the Hotel Regina and explain why they chose it, such as "This hotel has a great location, great service, and a great breakfast." Additionally, the search results will show Tripadvisor ratings, hotel photos and positive hotel features such as "location", "service" and "cleanliness".
Previously, Perplexity only provided a simple numbered list when displaying hotel information, including address, user ratings and some features, and the images displayed in the sidebar were mainly from the official websites of various hotels. Now, through cooperation with Tripadvisor, Perplexity can provide more detailed information and enhance the user experience.
Johnny Ho, co-founder of Perplexity, said in an interview with "The Verge": "The latest and trusted information source provided by Tripadvisor allows us to synchronize updates regularly. We will index and retrieve appropriate results in real time based on the user's query intent. He added that Perplexity also plans to expand Tripadvisor integration to include information on restaurants and other experiences in the future.
In addition, Perplexity also established a cooperation with Yelp last year to provide users with accurate and practical information. The integration with Tripadvisor comes shortly after ChatGPT widely rolled out its AI search engine, which also began showing results from around the web for certain queries. Perplexity’s Tripadvisor integration is currently live on its web version, with a mobile app to follow soon.
