Google recently quietly released the pricing information of its video-generated AI model Veo2. Veo2 was first disclosed in December last year, and this new model has attracted a lot of attention.
According to Google's pricing page, the cost of using Veo2 is 50 cents per second. In this way, the cost of video per minute is $30 and the cost of video per hour is as high as $1,800.
Jon Barron, a researcher at Google DeepMind, made an interesting comparison of the price, referring to the production budget for the high-profile Marvel movie Avengers: Endgame, which is as high as 3.56 $100 million, equivalent to about $32,000 per second.
Of course, users don't necessarily use every second of Veo-generated videos they pay for, and it's unlikely that Veo2 will immediately make three hours of "Avengers" epic movies. When announcing Veo2, Google emphasized its ability to generate short films lasting two minutes or more, which allows users to obtain high-quality video content in a shorter time.
It is worth mentioning that OpenAI also recently launched its video generation model Sora, which subscribers need to pay $200 per month for ChatGPT Professional Edition to use. This makes Veo2's pricing relatively competitive in the market.
