Google holds 14% of Anthropic shares and invests $3 billion

Google currently holds a 14% stake in anthropic, an artificial intelligence startup, close to the 15% cap it allows, according to legal documents obtained by The New York Times. It is worth noting that despite the huge investment, Google does not have voting rights, board seats or board observer rights in Anthropic.

It is reported that Google has invested a total of $3 billion in Anthropic so far and plans to add another $750 million in September 2025.

This investment relationship reflects the strategic layout of technology giants in the field of artificial intelligence and the continued financial support for leading AI R&D companies.
