Meta test AI to generate Instagram comment function, user response is doubtful

Meta is testing a new feature on Instagram that allows users to generate comments and suggestions through artificial intelligence. User Jonah Manzano discovered and shared this feature, and users simply click on the pencil icon below the post, and Meta AI analyzes the photos and provides three possible comments. If the user is not satisfied, you can refresh and get more suggestions.

A Meta spokesperson confirmed that the company is testing Meta AI capabilities in multiple areas, including comments, dynamics, groups and searches. Previously, Meta had tested similar AI-generated comments on Facebook.

However, this feature may face user resistance. Many Instagram users miss the platform's early more realistic experience, believing that friends should interact sincerely instead of relying on AI to generate content. This is also another AI attempt after Meta's previous attempt to introduce AI to generate characters, which was abandoned because it was considered "creepy".

It is not clear whether Meta will launch this feature extensively or only for small-scale testing.
