According to foreign media Android Authority, Google is continuing to add new features to its AI digital assistant Gemini. Following features such as in-depth contextual understanding, file processing optimization, and cross-application links, the code in Google applications shows that Gemini can generate videos soon.

This new feature is implied in the code of the Google app v16.6.23. In the code, "videogen" (videogen) appears together with "robin" (codename of the Gemini function). The relevant code file also contains the following string:

We also found code files that reference "videogen" and the following strings:

Although more code cannot be found at the moment, it can be speculated that "videogen" is likely to refer to the video generation function, and the above string points to the running status prompt of the function in Gemini.

It is worth noting that Google has provided AI video generation through Google Vids, but it is not a generative AI system. Google Vids guides users through conception, scripting, layout, editing and other processes, providing step-by-step guidance from ideas to videos. Users can create first drafts in Google Vids, remove image backgrounds, generate AI images, voiceovers, and record teleprompter readings. It seems natural to integrate similar systems into Gemini.

At present, the video generation function in Gemini has not yet been launched, and the release time and specific details are not yet clear.
