The Windsurf team has launched the Wave2 update, our second major upgrade to the Windsurf editor. Highlights of this update include a series of new features such as Web search, automatic remembering, enterprise-level support, code execution improvements, and issue tags.
The Wave2 update introduces web search functionality. Users can now obtain information from the Internet in real time through Cascade. Just add the "@" symbol in front of the command and enter a specific URL, and Cascade can automatically read the latest API documentation or the update log of the open source project. This new tool makes it easier for developers to access real-time information, making them more efficient at work.
The automatic memory function is a highlight of the Wave2 update. Previous versions have introduced explicit memory functionality, but this update allows Cascade to automatically learn and save preferences based on the user's usage patterns. This means that as the user's usage time increases, Cascade will learn more and more about the user's working habits and provide more personalized support and services. This feature will be gradually rolled out to all users, and you can expect to experience it soon.
Cascade also has several improvements in how it executes code. Now, Cascade can utilize the underlying IDE terminal shell to execute commands, allowing users to have a better experience when using virtual environments (such as venv). At the same time, we have also strengthened the integration with development containers to ensure that AI can work more efficiently in a secure environment.
Wave2 also includes integration with problem tags, allowing users to push problems they encounter directly to Cascade to help AI understand and solve problems. This feature greatly simplifies the developer's workflow and makes problem location and resolution faster.
The Wave 2 update is an important step in laying the foundation for 2025. Enterprise users will be able to enjoy a more comprehensive solution through Windsurf, including single sign-on, in-depth analysis, training and support and many other services. We look forward to Windsurf being able to provide developers with a more efficient and intelligent working environment in future development.
